North Haverhill Fair 2

Unfortunately I had not checked my camera's batteries before I made the trip up.  I was not able to take too many pictures.  But here are a few:
I did crop this picture but liked the way the cows heads were facing and eyes.

I was fascinated with the eyes of these gentle cows.

In another building were goats and sheep.  This baby goat had just been born less than 24 hours ago when I took it's picture on afternoon of July 30th.  It had been born on the fair grounds.

I hadn't been to a fair for a number of years, but so enjoyed looking at the animals as their owners proudly looked on.  So much work involved in caring and keeping up.  People of all ages working with their animals.  A tremendous thing in this day and age of technology.

I entered the above pictures along with 4 others in the North Haverhill Fair on the 24th.
This is the first time I have done something like this.  The Gilford Library displayed pictures from the Clicker Club during the month of June.  A friend encouraged me to enter some of these photos at the Fair.  I was surprised and happy to find that 4 my pictures had won 2 red ribbons and 2 blue ribbons.  There were some beautiful photographs at this fair along with some beautiful paintings.  I felt fortunate to be considered.  Thank you all for the encouragement you have shown me.

Quincy Bog Photography Walk July 9

These are white 6" high plants that are called Indian Pipes.  It does not have chlorophyl, which is what makes plants green.  The Indian Pipe feeds on fungus that feeds on trees.

June 2011

Clemetis bloomed from my garden.  I love the large blue petals.

This is part of my new side garden.

I found this boat house shed reminding me of something I would see at the ocean.  Like the simple lines with the chair in front.

Growing up, we called these flowers devils paint brushes.  Although a weed, I like the warm orange tones.

While driving in Vermont, I saw this stream emptying into a slower moving part of the river.  My picture does not  show the scene that I thought would make a good shot as I was driving along this road.  I hope to drive that way again some time and try the shot again.

A couple of peony's a friend gave me from her garden

May 2011

I was driving north on route 25 fairly early in the morning, when I saw the above 2 scenes that I felt I had to stop and take some pictures.
This scene attracted me on the way home in the late afternoon.
