Wells Beach

 Thursday, April 24th, I drove up to Wells Beach.  I had not been to the ocean in Maine for about 2 years, as I had talked myself out of going previously for one reason or another.  Finally, on Thursday, I just went.  I had a wonderful time.. the tide was out.. gathered some shells, walked the beach and took some pictures and just enjoyed the blue sky, and ocean sounds.. Even though it was a windy day, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Magnolia blossoms and squirrels

While I was visiting a friend in Watertown, Mass, I took a walk and came across this squirrel eating parts of these magnolia buds and blossoms on this hugh Magnolia tree in someone's front yard, fairly close to the road.  

White goose? blue goose? or white morph juvenile ?

Late this afternoon I saw a posting for a white snow goose, barnacle goose and other birds being seen at Sawyers Field in Gilford.. across from Beans and Greens.

Unfortunalely my camera battery died but I did manage to take 3 shots before this happened.. In the pictures below the coloring almost looks purplish and white.  

What do you see?  A white snow goose?, a Blue goose? or a white morph juvenile?

So far a person has responded and has ID'd this bird as a regular white snow goose juvenile.. From all of the images I have seen online, I think this fits..

Inside Light and shadows

Our Camera club assignment for our May meeting is using light.  This is an unedited shot of one of my cats.. while she snoozes in one of her favorite places.. the back of the stuffed chair.. the strong sunlight was highlighting her face and shadows cast from her ears.

I spent some time yesterday..  trying to create a watermark to sign my photographs.. After much trial and error... while learning how to use the software better, I finally did it.  then after creating one that I decided was a little more compllicated to use than I wanted, I found directions for a simpler one.  I decided to start posting pictures with my name and copy right attached to it.  I found a picture from last year that I dont think I have posted before to try it on.  This photo was taken from the side of the road in Haverhill, looking at the mountains, one late afternoon with the sun setting and just highlighting these mountains.  I did edit the picture in photoshop elements... it was dark and i had to lighten it up so the colors could be seen.  There was this bright orangy red where the setting sun was spot lighting the mountains..In elements, the editing gave it a little different look.. I liked the colors and when I came upon it recently, I decided I to post it.  Since I took it in 2013, I created another watermark/signature for pictures taken in 2013.

This picture reminds me of my parents home in Woodsville, and where my brother moved later in life.  My brother was very encouraging of my photography.
