Goldeneye and Blue Headed Mallards
Day; 59
Below are some pictures of some Godeneye ducks and some Blue Headed Mallards at Sewall's Falls area of the Merrimack River.
They were a bit too far away for my camera.

Walking path
Day 58;
I saw these lights during the day and thought they would make a great shot when lit up at night.

white capped mountains
Day 57;
On my way up to Woodsville today, I saw a stream with the snow capped mountains in the background. A pine tree was leaning just in front of the scene.

After the snow
Day 56;
Threw on clothing this morning and got outside to take some shots after our snowfall. Wet, sticky snow adhering to everything, enticing for taking pictures.
I liked the way the road looks like it is curving, with the blue house as the backdrop, framed by the tree limbs.

Timed Exposure
Day 51;
One more picture for homework, that I took this morning on the way to work. Not sure if I can slow down the water much more with my bridge camera. Will find out tonight during class. I had the aperature up as high as it will go: f8 and shutter speed was 1 second and ISO 80.

Cat Interaction
Day 49;
I'm working all day on final editing on wedding pictures I took. I caught a couple of pictures of my cats playing and interacting.. usually I don't have my camera near enough to get the shot before the action is over.

When I took this shot, I noticed the old fashioned movie glasses propped up just a little behind the one cat. I had to laugh as I looked at my cat's glowing eyes and the glowing reflection from the flash on the movie glasses. I'm sure there is a different name than "movie glasses" but cannot think of it.

Landscapes revisited
Previously I had mentioned feeling as though taking pictures of landscapes had escaped me. In looking through my past photos, I did find some landscapes to post from the last couple of years. I think when I was trying to take the landscape pictures this past weekend, I put the dial on my bridge camera on scenes, preferable night landscape and a few pictures in day landscape mode. I think this affected the color of my sunsets and sunrises..kept them from being more colorful. If I had taken the pictures in manual mode and under exposed them, I think I would have seen deeper colors. So next time, I will got back to manual settings and try shooting sunsets and sunrises.
Below are some landscapes from 20011 and earlier this year:

Ice
Day 47; I observed some ice on a smooth rock wall today.. took some pictures and edited one on Photoshop elements 8. My first picture edited mostly in Photoshop. I am amazed at how photoshop elements can take the basic picture and add a little different dimension to it.

Shell
Day 46;
I love George O'keeffe's work especially ones of her shells and flowers. Once I get the courage to purchase a good DSLR camera, I want to try to work on taking some interesting macro closeups. I fooled around with this sea shell, my couch throw and some bluish ribbon. The white on the white blog is too much white.. next time, think using a colored frame from editing may help.

Red Bob House
Day 44;
Landscape homework for the photography class I am taking is due tonight. I am failing at this... I took a lot of pictures Saturday at sunset and Sunday at sunrise... could not seem to come up with something appealing. I have to work harder. I have been reading up on the internet and thinking about it more. On my way home today, this red bob house caught my eye as I was driving. I found a place to park, walked back and took some pictures.. .. As I set up the shot, I realized that the American flag, also with red in it was flying.. The background still needs some work.. Hope to learn more tonight.

After class tonight, came back and cropped this picture some more.. still not really happy with it, but cropping the trees down to the flag helped. Class is very helpful.. I also realized in looking at all of the pictures that I have taken, I do have a few good landscape pictures. I think I was trying to overthink this assignment.

Lake Opeche - winter sunset
Day 42;
My homework assignment for one of my photography classes is landscape.
I took a lot of pictures on the dam end of Lake Opeche. It does make a difference when there is something in the foreground.

Water drops
Yesterday I was trying to take a picture of a water droplet to post before class. I ran out of time to edit and post last night. Here are 2 pictures of a water drop, am posting today.
Here are some water droplets that we practiced taking at our camera club. The drops are a little small but you can see how the drops picked up the colors from the picture below it. It was fun and I will try this again another time.

Candle lamps
Day 38;
My brother made these candle lamps. The 1 in front and 1 on right side, have light metal parts that turn when the candle is lighted.

Lake Winnisquam
Day 37;
Project 365 is definitely helping to motivate me to take more pictures and perhaps make decisions more quickly on creating the shot, making the shot, and posting the shot.
As someone said, if you are going to make a mistake, make a big one. I am trying to remember that when I have little time to take pictures and post. I don't have to be perfect, just good enough. And if my picture is not any good, that is okay. I will fail a lot until I am successful. Finding that shot takes time and perseverance and its important to still have fun taking photographs in the meantime.
So that being said... I had little time today to take some pictures.. which reminds me to take more pictures during the day.. I did take some shots from the a boat house on Lake Winnisquam and think I found a passable shot to post for today. The late afternoon, early evening light was beautiful. lavender in color. I caught some reflections on the water and snapped the shot.. this was my next to last shot before I had to do something else. It is looking through a boat house..

Controlled Fire
Day 36;
My brother and I observed a controlled fire... a house apparently was donated to the fire station for practice fire drills. It was a large house and produced an amazing large, hot fire. At one point it looked like there was a waterfall of fire falling upwards from the open rectangular openings that once were windows.

One of several Fire Engines at the site.

Keeping the next door house free of fire.
At the end of the day: just a pile of rubble. The ice on the branches showing how cold the day was.

Rock Climbing
Day 34;
At school we set up the wall for rock climbing. I had walked away from the wall to get something, on my way back I saw a helmet sitting on top of some boots.. I liked the look of the blue and red.
